First introduced for Windows Phone, Cortana will be a key component of Windows 10 when it launches July 29th.

Still, Cortana offers some unique abilities (the Notebook in particular) not available with Google and Apple’s virtual assistants, and her voice detection is some of the best around if you want a change of pace from the native offering on your OS.

While the company is yet to officially release Cortana on Android, the APK file of the digital voice assistant got leaked a few minutes ago.

Microsoft’s plan in releasing a Cortana app for non-Windows devices is to allow users of all kinds of devices to use Microsoft’s own personal digital assistant technology across their various devices.

We have ran Cortana beta on both Samsung Galaxy S5 (Android 5.0 Lollipop) and Galaxy S6 (Android 5.1.1 Lollipop) and everything felt smooth and solid with no hiccups or errors. The iOS version will be released later this year though we don’t know how stable the beta build is for the moment, but Microsoft is likely to delay it rather than launch a faulty version.

It looks like Microsoft has begun testing – whether intentionally or inadvertently – its coming Cortana app for Android.

And from what we’ve noticed from the beta version that has just been leaked online courtesy to tech blog Techweez, Microsoft did a pretty good job.
